season Elena and Damon have their moments. And this just added to my
growing list of things I dislike about her.
Don't get me wrong, I like the show. Really exciting, interesting,
and a lot of fun to watch. And Damon is my favorite character, mostly
because he is the most developed. But sometimes character development
is scarified just to get the plot rolling. And I find that most of
this hurts Elena's character the most.
First problem I had with her was when she saved Damon after he killed
Lexi. I get it, she had to save him. Without Damon there would be no
story. What I don't get is that she had no reason to save him. At that
time, he was on a somewhat killing spree. If it was anyone else, other
than Damon (let's say a new vampire who couldn't control himself)
Elena would have stood back. It seems like a selfish act. And while I
was watching the show I just kept thinking of Elena saying "oh let
everyone else who doesn't matter die, let's just help the people I
care about." Kind of an exaggeration, because I know there are points
in the show where Elena's good side and compassion is really
emphasized, but there are subtle incidents where Elena's character is
diminished. I dislike her, plain and simple. I'm just wonder if I'm
the only one? I was talking to my friend about it and she seemed to
like her.
Of course, I'm not just talking about one incident. There are others
but too long for yahoo. And I know people will say but Damon was
Stephen's brother, she had to save him. Again, I have my arguments
against this too, but too long.
I also feel like she toys with Damon's heart too much.
